Is Laser Hair Removal better than waxing?

Whether laser hair removal is "better" than waxing largely depends on your personal preferences, needs, and long-term goals for hair removal. Here are some factors to consider:

1. Permanence: Laser hair removal aims to reduce hair growth permanently (unless there are hormonal changes in the future, for example pregnancy, menopause, medication). After several sessions, most people experience a significant reduction in hair growth, and any hair that does grow back may be finer and lighter in color. On the other hand, waxing provides temporary results, and hair usually grows back within a few weeks.

2. Cost: Laser hair removal is generally more expensive up front than waxing because it requires specialised equipment and professional expertise. However, because it can reduce hair growth permanently, it is more cost-effective in the long run. At KLYNIK we offer discount on booking packages which can reduce the cost greatly and offer you the option to pay in split payments depending on the number of areas that you choose.

3. Pain and discomfort: Waxing can be quite painful, especially in sensitive areas, because it involves pulling hair out from the root. Laser hair removal is pain free as we use the Quanta Thunder MT device which has the Qool-Air system which cools the air as the laser passes, making it a pain free treatment.

4. Skin type and hair colour: As we have the most advanced laser devices in the world we are able to treatment all skin types. For hair colour laser hair removal works best on darker hair colours, except blonde, red and white hair. For client’s with those hair colours they may require more sessions or they would be recommended other methods to reduce hair. Waxing, on the other hand, works on all skin types and hair colours.

5. Time and convenience: Laser hair removal requires multiple sessions (usually 6 to 10) spaced several weeks apart, but each session can be quicker than a waxing appointment, especially for large areas like the legs or back. After completing all sessions, you might only need a touch-up session once or twice a year. Waxing typically needs to be done every 3 to 6 weeks, depending on your hair growth.

In conclusion, if you're looking for a more permanent solution and are willing to invest more upfront, laser hair removal would definitely be the better option. However, if you have blonde, red or white hair or are looking for a less expensive or more immediate solution, waxing could be better. You can book a patch test and consultation at KLYNIK where our laser experts can determine what's best for your individual needs and circumstances.
